April 26 1902

CHARLES Sorrell and Herbert Best, labourers of Harvington, were summoned for throwing stones on April 14 in Harvington. The defendants did not appear. PC Hancock stated that he saw the defendants in front of Sorrell's house on the highway. They were throwing stones at some school children. A warrant was issued for both men.

April 23 1927

WHEN at Willersey Quarry on Good Friday, Mr Donald Hoddinott, M.R.C.V.S of Waterside, Evesham, noticed a family of adders sunning themselves on a stone near the entrance to Broadway Golf Links. The largest erected itself into a defensive attitude. Mr Hoddinott, after calling his four children to see it, killed it with a stone. Four smaller adders were found not far away. Mr Hoddinott brought home three, together with the body of the larger one, which was 22 inches long.

April 26 1952

FOLLOWING a recommendation from the Highways Committee that Lower Albert Road should be extended and houses built along the frontages, Evesham Town Council's housing committee, decided on Monday, that the Borough Surveyor should prepare plans for the extension of the road to Queen's Road. It was stated that the extension of the road would provide sites for 12 to 16 houses.

FAR-reaching plans to landscape and improve Merstow Green - the historic centre of Evesham - were placed before members of the Wychavon programming and co-ordinating committee this week. The plans, which also include the provision of 122 additional car parking spaces, were for discussion only, and are the result of a report by a special working party.
