GEOFF says he is standing in Greenhill Ward due to Labour's failure, which has resulted in them running health and social sevices into the ground.

Geoff says: " Labour can't say they weren't warned. Since 1999, the Conservative Party has been urging the Government to recognise the inevitable consequences of its policies. In particular, we pointed out that the over-prescriptive regulatory regime in the Care Standards Act, and the Government's practice at successive budgets of failing to fund fully Social Services departments to cover inflationary pressures, combined with spiralling property prices in many parts of the country, were bound to result in care home closures.

"Experience shows that the warnings were justified. Nearly 50,000 beds have been lost as a result of home closures. Many other homes are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. Yet still the Government is doing nothing.

"I stand in Greenhill to redress this imbalance and work for the elderly communities in my home town."
