FORMER Mayors of Worcester were, from half-a-century ago, to have a tangible reminder of their years of office as First Citizen.
The Journal of 1952 explained: "Ex-Mayors are from now on to receive a special badge as a memento of their valued service to the city. The badge in silver gilt and enamel is almost a complete replica of the badge appended to the Mayor's chain of office."
Past Mayors have continued to be presented with these memento badges down the years ever since and can be seen sporting them at various civic functions.
