Littleton 4,

Knowles Res 1

LITTLETON consolidated their position at the top of the Midland Combination third division table.

Saturday's success followed a 6-1 victory at Birmingham United in midweek.

With nearest rivals Halfords drawing, Littleton are now six points clear with four games to play.

The hard grounds are, however, having an effect as Littleton's injury list lengthens. They suffered another casualty when Perry Beddoes was carried off with a damaged ankle.

Knowle came with a fit young side but they weren't allowed to settle into any rhythm.

Littleton went close on 15 minutes when Des Cox broke down the left but Darren Reeves headed his cross narrowly wide.

It was from another left wing run by Cox that Littleton took the lead ten minutes later. This time his shot was well saved by Gary Buttler but the ball ran to Chris Bate whose scuffed shot deceived the keeper and trickled into the net.

It was 2-0 immediately after the restart. From a Bobby Deacon corner the ball fell to Curtis Major who gleefully scored from close-range.

Three minutes later, Littleton went further ahead with their 100th league goal of the campaign. A Cox pass found Reeves who in turn threaded the ball through Knowle's defence for Ady Wilde to run on and score.

Knowle then scored an excellent goal through Alex Temple who hit a precise shot from 20 yards past Adam Moss.

Littleton's final goal came soon after. Mark Gledhill won the ball in midfield, passed to Deacon whose precise pass found Cox who rounded the keeper to score.

The match was sponsored by Spencer Commercial Ltd.

Littleton are at home tonight (6.15) to Wilmcote Reserves and away to Chasetown Reserves on Saturday.
