SALFORD Rovers Under-13s registered a trio of Mercian Elgar League wins in the space of five days, rattling up 16 goals in the process.

Goals from Robert Preston, Ashley Wilkes, Shaun Read and an own goal led to a 4-1 defeat of Brockhampton Badgers last Wednesday night and, 24 hours later, the goal count was bettered against Mickleton Rangers.

However, the visitors took an early lead through Doug Wallace but Read soon levelled.

The same player then made it 2-1 at half-time after which further strikes from Tom Barber, Josh Cocker and Read's third completed a 5-1 triumph.

Sunday's visit to Inkberrow produced a 7-2 win in which another own goal stated off the scoring for rampant Rovers.

Wilkes and Cocker made it 3-0 at the break and the lead was extended when Cocker converted a cross from Wilkes.

Jamie Coughlan then made it 5-0 before further goals from Read and Chris Bartlett nullified two James Allan goals for the hosts.

Peopleton U-14 6, Evesham Utd 0

TOP scorer Lea Miller gave Peopleton the lead against the run of play and it was 2-0 at half-time when Nat Bulmer found the net.

Miller completed his hat-trick after the break when Bulmer also found the net. An own goal made it a round half-a-dozen for the winners.

Peopleton defended heroically and earned a clean sheet thanks to the efforts of Marcus Claytor, Jack Bostock, Mike Bulford and Scott Hughes. Goalkeeper Mat Clements produced an acrobatic save in the closing minutes to deny Evesham a deserved consolation.

Evesham Utd U-9 2, Bredon 0

UNITED capped a fantastic season when they added the Ambassador League's Fancutts Cup to the league title they won in undefeated style.

A misjudgement by the Bredon goalkeeper allowed Jake Hall to celebrate his 64th goal of a prolific season and give Evesham the lead.

The goal livened up a nervy United side and Olly Scarrot volleyed in a crucial second after good work by Lou Brown and Micheal Savage.

Bredon gave their all after the break but United keeper Jordan Willis and defenders James Bearcroft, Cieran Gilbert ensured the success story continued.

Evesham United Robins defeated Peopleton by a single goal to win the Under-8s five-a-side competition at Bretforton last Saturday.

The squad won all six pool matches and then defeated Badsey 2-0 in the semi-final.

Henry Pearce-Woods spearheaded the success with 15 goals as the Robins banged in 22 in total, conceding just three.

Bredon Hawks U-10 3,

Evesham Utd Robins 0

ROBINS paid dearly for numerous missed chances.

After dominating the early stages a defensive error saw Hawks take the lead and then follow up quickly with a well- taken second.

Robins continued to press forward and Jamie Wallace was twice denied by the woodwork before half-time.

The second half followed a similar pattern with the Evesham lads forcing the play. Player of the match Lewis Ridley was a constant threat to the Bredon defence but, despite all of the good football that Robins played, they were unable to convert possession into goals.

A second defensive error midway through the half presented Hawks with their third goal and put the game beyond the reach of the Robins.

Evesham Utd Robins U-10 2, Stratford Utd 0

ROBINS took the points in a scrappy game through fine strikes from David Stannier and Lewis Ridley.

Play was regularly interrupted for injuries on the hard ground and neither side was able to sustain any momentum in a very physical match.

The game was quite even for long periods and both sides had their chances but Stratford were unable to beat player of the match, Andrew Taylor, in the Evesham goal.

Littleton Colts 2,

Evesham Utd Robins 1

THIS competitive final was quite even until the Robins opened the scoring after ten minutes following a lovely four-man move.

The goal proved the spur the Colts needed and, after two near misses by Nick Powell and Craig Young, they finally equalised when a Lloyd Smith wonder strike from 20 yards found the top corner.

It was end-to-end stuff after the break and, with ten minutes remaining, a Dan Lewis corner was met by Phil Jones who headed in his first goal of the season.

In a hectic last five minutes the Robins pushed hard to find an equaliser and it was left to the heroics of goalkeeper Steve Powell, who pulled off a point- blank save in the final minute, to earn a deserved victory.

Dunnington U-9 0, Elmley Castle 1

BOTH teams had the chances to take the lead in the opening half of Saturday's Plate Final but it remained goalless at the break.

Dunnington hit the bar after the break bit it was Ollie Ballard who finally broke the deadlock five minutes from time when his shot found its way through a crowded six-yard area.

There was still time for Dunnington to draw level from the penalty spot but Will Graulich produced a great save.

Evesham Utd U-11 0,

Witney Vikings 3

EVESHAM'S youngsters came close to causing a major upset in the Witney League Knockout Cup Final, but in the end succumbed to the stronger finishing of their Division A rivals.

United started brightly with Lance Smith running the midfield and Tom Adam Miles leading the attack.

Ben Parry, Jon Wein, captain Jordan Shelton and Adam Styles patrolled the midfield, while defenders Dave Huggins, Matty Rose, Tom Henry Miles and Stuart Warren kept the opposition out.

Goalkeeper Nick Stevens only touched the ball twice in the first half, whereas at the other end Evesham had eight shots but failed to find the net.

The balance changed in Witney's favour and they scored ten minutes into the second half.

Stevens then made two brave saves but he had no chance with the second and third goals.

Having already won the Division B championship, defeat on Sunday failed to cloud a successful season.

Littleton Jnrs 0,

Evesham Utd U-15 4

UNITED'S good form continued against rivals Littleton.

The friendly game was settled in the first half with goals from Dan Millward and another Shaun Stanley hat-trick.

In the second half Littleton came out fighting as you would expect from the good side that they are, but they couldn't get the better of in-form keeper Darren Knurek.

Stanley then notched two second half goals to overcome Evesham Colts.

United's defence was once again held strong by sweeper Jason Jones and goalkeeper Darren Knurek, with the main threat coming from the constant running of Colin Hateley.

Badsey Rgrs U-12 1,

Charlton Rvrs A 1

SUNDAY'S draw confirmed Badsey as runners-up in the Cheltenham Youth League but they were far from their best.

They started brightly and chances went begging before Jamie Clarke opened the scoring after a neat interchange of passes between Stefan Ellis and Matty Young.

It took Charlton just three minutes to draw level as Rangers relaxed and poor defending saw a powerful shot deflected into the net.

It was 1-1 at half-time and chances were scarce after the break but it was Badsey who wasted the best of them. The cup winners were only saved from a surprise defeat when Ethan Cronin produced a good clearance five minutes from time.

Elmley Castle U-12 2,

Littleton Jnrs 1

SATURDAY'S Plate final saw Paul Smaylen give Elmley the early advantage but a penalty from Jamie Clarke made it all-square at the break.

Littleton maintained the pressure but another Smaylen strike restored Castle's lead and strong defence and some superb saves from Chris Ridings earned Elmley victory.

Perdiswell 2, Norton Rgrs U-14 1

A SECOND goal proved crucial and it was Perdiswell who grabbed it to relegate Rangers to third place in the table.

The former leaders must now rely on others to drop points if they are to take the title but they might have to settle for cup glory when they meet Sunday's conquerors in the final on May 5.

After Peter Stedman and Ashley Knight had both hit the frame of the goal, player of the match Dale Attwood gave Rangers a deserved lead.

The woodwork again denied Norton after the interval and they suffered further woe when James Muddiman was carried off.

Perdiswell scrambled an equaliser and the same player then headed in the winner from a corner.
