A driver who was almost twice over the alcohol limit at 11pm blamed drink from the night before.
He had drunk only one pint of cider on the night he was stopped, solicitor David Howarth said in court at Kidderminster.
He had built up the reading during earlier heavy drinking.
Stanley Green, 20, of Worcester Road, Kidderminster, was banned for 18 months and fined £150, with £55 costs.
He admitted driving a Land Rover with a blood alcohol reading of 155. The limit is 80.
