MOTORSPORT: Nathan Freke dominated the 125 Rotax Max non-gearbox class at Shenington Raceway, near Banbury.

During Saturday's practice, the Kidderminster teenager was consistently faster than all the other karts by several 10ths of a second.

Freke continued setting the fastest practice time on Sunday mornings.

On the front row for his first heat, he was baulked at the start down to third but was ahead by the end of the second lap to win by 10m.

In the second heat, a back start saw him almost snatch victory on the line after excellent overtaking but he had to settle for third.

There was a similar story in the next race where fourth was enough to secure pole position for the final.

It appeared in trying to match Freke's pace his opponents had grained their front tyres.

He took the lead in the first corner during the final and went on to win by over 200m, setting the fastest lap of the day by some way.

Freke set the fastest lap in each of his heats, beating several British Championship contenders who were practising for their future round at the same venue.
