VISITORS look set to be better informed about Droitwich's history and forthcoming events thanks to a new information guide.

The Droitwich Spa Heritage Group has produced a souvenir programme for the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

The booklet includes information on the town's history and heritage, events being held over the Jubilee and information on a number of local organisations.

The new booklet, which was funded by a £3,000 grant from Droitwich Spa Town Council, includes events from now until June.

"The souvenir guide will allow townspeople and visitors alike to learn more about the Spa's heritage, as well as what's going on in the town over the next few months," said Councillor Pam Davey, the heritage group's chairwoman.

The group has also recently received a £4,950 grant from the Awards For All scheme.

Other charities and organisations in Worcestershire are being urged to apply for their share of the Lottery cash to spend on Jubilee celebrations from around Monday, May 27 to Friday, June 7.

"This is a perfect opportunity for everybody to get involved in celebrating the Queen's Golden Jubilee," Coun Davey added.

Anyone wishing to submit a grant application should call Pam Davey on 01905 773289.

The souvenir books are available from the High Street office of the Droitwich Advertiser, the Evening News' sister paper, Droitwich Library in Victory Square, the Tourist Information Centre in St. Andrews Road, One Stop Shop in the High Street and Executive Cleaners, also in the High Street.
