TWO locks have taken on a new lease of life thanks to work carried out by volunteers in Wyre Piddle, near Pershore.
The Lower Avon Navigation Trust Ltd (LANT) has fitted new safety ladders to Nafford Lock and serviced the lock's swing bridge on behalf of Worcestershire County Council.
The registered charity, based near Pershore, also refurbished the top gates at Strensham Lock and fitted new lower gates amongst other repairs.
When the lock at Nafford was emptied, a mobile phone and watch were recovered from the mud.
"The mobile phone was beyond repair, but the Seiko watch is still working," said John Taplin, LANTS's consultant.
"The Seiko watch had been lost several months before, by a boat owner passing through the lock.
