THE Arrow Valley Brass Band recently a successful day at a national competition, beating off others to win a place in the finals.
The band played in the Midland finals of the Boosey and Hawkes National Brass Band Championships and as a result of its version of Kenneth Downie's St Austell Suite, it will now go forward to the grand final in Torquay.
It has also been promoted to the second section for next year's event.
The 28-piece band celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and is conducted by Andy Culshaw.
The band will next appear in Redditch at a memorial concert for Des Evans in September and also has a very diary over the summer.
