THE giant sails of the Danzey Green windmill, Avoncroft museum's latest acquisition were turning again for the first time in a century. The mill, dating from about 1800, had been re-erected and restored at the Stoke Heath museum at a cost of some £4,000.

MEMBERS of Christ Church in Catshill, stepped back 2,000 years when they took part in a Palm Sunday procession complete with donkey through the village. Later at a service, palm crosses were handed to the congregation.

MR D MATTHEWS, head of South Bromsgrove High School since 1970, retired. He had helped steer the school through the difficulties brought about by the introduction that year of the new comprehensive system. Prior to his arrival at South, Mr Matthews had been head at Parkside Middle School in the town.

RUBERY antique dealer Neil Barrie, 31, and his wife Rosemary, 21, were severely injured in a gas explosion at their flat in Sharpes Close which they had taken over only a few months previously. Their four-month-old baby and its grandparents, who were also in the flat at time, escaped injury.
