A HISTORIC hall will return to its Elizabethan roots next week.

Harvington Hall will roll back more than 400 years of history with an Elizabethan-themed night on Saturday, April 20.

The moated, timbered manor will host an authentic three-course meal from the period of Good Queen Bess and music will be provided by minstrels, the Ledbury Waites. Four-year-old Hilary Foord dressed as an Elizabethan page boy for this month's event.

Business co-ordinator Sherida Breeden said the spring event was a departure for the venue which had previously only hosted Christmas Elizabethan evenings.

She said: "Sales have gone well but there are a few seats left. We hope to make this a biannual event.

"Money raised from the evening will go towards plasterwork on the Great Chamber which has been refurbished."

Anyone interested in the evening at the hall, renowned for its many ingenious "priest holes" or secret hideaways, should call 01562 777846.
