SILENCE descended across Wyre Forest on Tuesday as folk joined a nationwide tribute to the Queen Mother on the day of her funeral.
Many shops closed their doors at 11.30am as people observed a two-minute silence and some national chain stores closed from 10.30am until 1pm as a mark of respect. Dymphna Connolly with the tribute to the Queen Mother at the Marks and Spencer store in Kidderminster.
"People in Vicar Street, old and young, just stopped," said Nick Lewis, Wyre Forest District Council communications officer whose office overlooks Kidderminster town centre.
"One hundred per cent of people observed this."
