I SEE that Mr Waite feels "unjustly criminalised" for having broken the speed limit in Blakedown (Letters, March 28). Perhaps instead of being given a dictionary for your Letter of the Week, you could have rewarded him with a copy of the Highway Code.
I do not understand why the pedestrians of Blakedown walking to the school and shops are not open to the same dangers as those people on a housing estate, nor why Mr Waite feels they are not worthy of his consideration, quite apart from the fact he is breaking the law.
I would imagine it is this arrogant and dangerous view of drivers travelling through Blakedown that prompts measures taken there.
Next time Mr Waite is approaching Blakedown and passes the numerous warning signs telling him he is approaching a 30mph zone, he may be interested to know of a very helpful device, which I believe most cars possess, to enable him to slow down - a brake pedal.
