FIVE Ways Old Edwardians' North Midlands One status is all but secure despite defeat at the weekend - and they have arch rivals Redditch to thank!

While the Masshouse side's disappointing season continued with a 22-10 home defeat to Upton, neighbours Redditch were dumping fellow strugglers Tenbury into the relegation zone.

Bromyard's win over pointless Warley condemned the bottom club to the drop and with two sides expected to go down, Tenbury are unlikely to drag Jez Williams' side into the relegation picture.

Tenbury would need to make up 73 points to overhaul Five Ways on points difference and Williams knows a point on the last day will make his side mathematically safe.

But he wants his side to get the win at Bromsgrove Road (ko 3pm) which would almost certainly ruin the hosts' promotion hopes.

Williams is thinking about giving prop Dave Hughes his first run-out of the season after a campaign disrupted by work commitments.
