DIXONIANS had to put the championship champagne on ice after a shock 18-12 home defeat to second from bottom Old Halesonians at the weekend.
Needing just one point from fixtures against the league's bottom two sides going into the weekend, the Kings Norton tenants have been left having to decide their fate on a nervy last day of the season.
Second placed Aston OE took advantage of the upset by beating Telford 27-7 to close the gap to two points with a game to go.
And with Aston enjoying a better points difference and playing lowly Selly Oak on Saturday, Dixonians skipper Lee Irwin knows his side cannot afford to lose at a Leek side whose relegation was confirmed at the weekend.
If the unthinkable happens and Dixonians finish second on the final day (ko 3pm) they would face a play-off against the runners-up from Midlands West Three South - either Leamington or Bedworth.
