CANDIDATES for the May 2 Redditch Council elections have been announced.

Both Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties will be fielding 11 candidates, while Labour field 10 and there is one independent.

Anyone away on polling day can apply for a postal vote.

To do this, call the Elections Office at the town hall on 534009 by Wednesday, April 24.

The deadline for making changes to existing postal arrangements is 5pm next Wednesday.

There is no election in the Church Hill ward this year.

Abbey ward: Gordon Hazelton (Con); Robin King (Lab); Diane Thomas (Lib Dem).

Batchley ward: Peter Anderson (Con); Jack Cookson (Lab); Kathleen Cummings (Lib Dem).

Central ward: Michael Braley (Con); Adam Isherwood (Lib Dem); Stephen Wheeler (Lab).

Crabbs Cross ward: David Gee (Lib Dem); Les Smith (Lab); Sarah Sulley (Con).

Feckenham ward: Michael Chalk (Con); Pattie Hill (Lab); Graham Pollard (Lib Dem).

Greenlands ward: Philip Mould (Lab); Anthony Pitt (Lib Dem); Tracey Smithers (Con).

Lodge Park ward: Janet Clark (Con); Mohammad Nasir (Lab); Simon Preston (Ind); Ian Webster (Lib Dem).

Matchborough ward: Iris Beech (Lab); Anita Clayton (Con); Christopher Hennessey (Lib Dem).

West ward (two seats): Caroline Ashall (Lib Dem); Michael Ashall (Lib Dem); Karen Lumley (Con); Gavin Smithers (Con); John Witherspoon (Lab).

Winyates ward: Gordon Craig (Con); Cyril Springall (Lib Dem); Albert Wharrad (Lab).
