A NUMBER of groups and organisations will be given cash boosts of up to £5,000 each from the National Lottery, writes Becky Procter.

More than £34,000 is coming to Redditch from the Awards for All scheme - part of about £2 million which has been shared among 444 groups in the West Midlands.

Two groups have been given money to stage cultural events to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

The Descendants of Windrush have been awarded £4,800 to pay for running costs of the event, including the hiring of a venue, equipment, artists and caterer costs.

And the Redditch Pakistan Community Forum has been given £5,000 to help towards the staging of a similar event.

Tables and chairs will be bought for the new village hall in Studley after a cash injection of £4,995.

Stock and Bradley Village Hall has been given £2,000 to carry out a questionnaire, building and feasibility study and Alvechurch Village Hall has been awarded £5,000 towards its refurbishment, including disabled access.

The Coppice Primary School in Wythall has been given £4,422 to develop an after-school club.

Redditch Arrows American Football Club has been awarded £4,996 and Redditch United Girls Football Club has been given £4,949.
