I SHOULD like to express my sincere thanks to all those involved in the three Cabaret shows which were presented at the Palace Theatre on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16.

My aim was to raise funds for the Community Arts Centre, which is the eventual aim of Break A Leg Theatre Company, and also to raise the profile of the children and young people who are Break A Leg.

Certainly the first aim was achieved and I hope the latter too.

Special thanks must not only go to the young people involved but also to the guest acts, all of whom gave their time freely in order to make the shows an all -family entertainment.

Banrock Station and Soft Option Appalachian dancers certainly gained some new fans following their performances.

Thanks also to Rob Slater, our Magic Man, to Val Archer and Estelle Shutkever for their monologues and to compere Cyril "Jumbo" Cummins.

I should also like to thank the many local companies who also sponsored the shows by generous donations of gifts which encouraged programme sales for the lucky programme number draw at each show.

A total of 740 people came to see the three shows and as a result of this and the sponsored gifts, a total of £4,068 was raised for Break a Leg.

As producer of the shows, it is not for me to comment upon the success or otherwise of the venture.

The money is a bonus but the most important thing for me was the expressions of enjoyment and enthusiasm which were evident at all three shows from all those participating and that alone made it worth all the time and effort.

As a final note, I wish to say that all those participating were very professional in their conduct backstage and every single one of the youngsters involved were a credit to themselves and their families.

Well done!
