WHY is it Redditch Council couldn't care less about its football pitches that are allocated to teams based outside the Redditch Football League.

As a Redditch-based team which plays in the Bromsgrove District League, we have just had a fixture called off for the third time in six weeks.

We are allocated a pitch at Pathways and the majority of games are called off due to lack of maintenance and not due to bad weather.

When you pay £36 a game, you don't expect to turn up to find out that they haven't bothered to mark the pitch.

In one game last year, I had to nip down to a local supermarket to buy three bags of flour to mark out lines 10 minutes before kick-off.

The grass is always far too long and today's game was called off because the pitch was so uneven and covered in ruts, it was a danger to players.

By comparison, I went down to look at the pitches at South Redditch, which are used by Redditch League sides and it seems as though there is no expense spared.

We have made several written complaints over the last few seasons to which we have never had a reply.

It is about time whoever is responsible for the pitch maintenance to get their act together.

I had a lot of very frustrated and very angry players today who were sent home without a game - AGAIN.
