IN answer to Mrs Gill Miller, whose son was failed by social services (Letters, March 27), I would advise to give up on trying to get funding for her son if she values her own health.

We have been trying to get help from social services for our 17-year-old daughter for years.

She has a mental heath disorder known as RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder).

We were refused any sort of help - Redditch Social Services made life for our daughter and ourselves far worse; they did not understand the problems and did not listen to us when we tried to explain them.

Now she has been diagnosed with RAD, social services are refusing to fund the £500 needed for the professional assessment her psychologist says she desperately needs while they wait keenly for her 18th birthday, when they will try to wipe her from their minds completely.

We eventually had to tell our daughter to leave the family home at the age of 16 due to her aggressive behaviour.

She now lives in an inappropriate place for her needs.

She puts herself in danger every day. She is completely oblivious to her own vulnerability.
