ACCORDING to Councillor David Cartwright, some of us are confused about the council tax (Letters, March 27).
I am confused.
The Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions said money given to local authorities had increased by 20 per cent in the past four years.
A spokesman said: 'There should be no reason for big council tax increases. If these occur, local people will have every reason to question their council's decision.'
Our council tax has increased by 50 per cent in five years. Local authorities have proved they cannot be trusted with finance. Council tax should be abolished and all funding should come from income tax.
