AN ice-rink is to be included as part of Redditch Council's £40 million sports, leisure and entertainment centre project on the site of Abbey Stadium, writes Becky Procter.
And a planning application for the 28-acre site is finally due to be submitted next month, almost 17 months after the plans were first announced.
A snowdome, swimming pool, hotel and a tennis centre are included in the scheme and plans for a bypass through Bordesley to access the complex are being finalised.
Plans to create a second train station in Redditch to service the new development have also been mooted and were revealed in the Redditch Advertiser in February.
The news came just days after the council announced it had dropped project builders Bovis Lend Lease and were forging links with another partner.
