IN reply to Bill Bayley, who does not agree with my views on dealing with crime in Redditch (Letters, March 20), it is the breakdown in law and order brought about by the do-gooders who have caused the punishment NOT to fit the crime and who are the root of the trouble.
He need not worry about me visiting Redditch in the near future as I visited in 1979 and was appalled by the filthy state of the multi-storey car parks, the smell of urine on the stairwells and the general rundown state of the town.
Why, if he is so goody good, does he not do something about the vandalism and the trouble on the public transport?
I still say make the punishment fit the crime.
I have been in contact with a lady in west Australia who has been back twice and says never again.
Perhaps Mr Bayley has a very narrow view of life and should broaden his mind.
