I HAVE to agree with virtually every word of Alan Foxall's letter (Advertiser, March 20) concerning the Forge Mill Museum and Bordesley Abbey Visitor Centre.
A more imaginative approach is needed to attract people to visit.
Although it may seem rather foolhardy to promote yet another museum to assist another one, I feel this is exactly the measure to take.
Whenever one visits other towns and cities you find the museum close to the centre of the place, not where the centre used to be in the past.
Regular exhibitions could be held - even quilts - and the accessibility would attract more people who could be directed to Forge Mill Museum and vice versa.
Where would the money come from to finance this venture?
Well, I would focus in on another lost cause that is losing £200,000 - the Arrow Valley Countryside Centre.
Remaining as landlord, the council could hire out or rent out the building or part of it to an innovative entrepreneur who could use the picturesque views over the lake to better effect while perhaps relocating the cafe.
I'm sure people could be attracted to the venue and, of course, if not successful then we, the council taxpayers, would not be penalised.
Also, if it were viable - and I feel it could be - we would be £200,000 better off with a town museum we could be proud of.
