A RETIRED Droitwich firefighter has taken his many years of experience and put them to good use by launching his own business.

Harry Yale, who featured in the Advertiser when he retired from the fire brigade last month, is already working towards his next success - a first aid training company.

First Aid Skills and Training (FAST) offers first aid, risk assessment and manual handling training to businesses as far afield as Gloucestershire and beyond.

Mr Yale, who taught first aid at Droitwich Fire Station for more than ten years, has launched the business with his wife Jean, who is also a trainer.

The couple offer competitive rates of training and say they are prepared to tailor-make the training for specific business needs.

"Obviously, different businesses may want to focus their training on specific things, for instance if we are training at a pub, we may focus on accidents with glasses and bottles, it's whatever suits the client really," said Mr Yale.

"Both myself and Jean have been training first aid for more than 20 years and will be holding sessions of various lengths, depending on the training and the certificate we are working towards.

"Considering some of the courses last just four hours long, it's a small amount of time to give up when it could save someone's life one day."
