RESIDENTS from a medieval hamlet near Droitwich Spa are bracing themselves for major development on their doorstep.

Government planning chiefs have given the green light to a multi-million pound housing estate at Hadzor Hall.

The decision followed a three-day public inquiry into the plans for 71 homes, which was called for by the Keep Hadzor Special Campaign group.

Protesters said the courtyard-style development, which includes nine social properties, could ruin their village.

But the planning inspectorate, which is based in Bristol, will allow developer Neil Grinnall to restore and redevelop the 14th century hall, adjacent church, grounds and farm.

The hall was previously home to Micropore International Ltd.

Neil Grinnall Classic Homes Ltd plans to demolish the main office block and modern workshop.
