A WESTLANDS mum has hit out at the vandals who ransacked her home and emptied the contents of her fridge inside the property.

Susan Checketts was shocked to discover milk and cereal tipped over her car, food crushed into her carpets and eggs thrown at her inside windows.

Vandals broke into the Meadow Walk house last Wednesday while one of her three children was upstairs.

The kitchen was trashed and shelves, draws, cupboards and the fridge were raided.

Police are now investigating the incident, which occurred between 9 and 11.30pm, and Susan is urging other residents to be vigilant.

She told the Advertiser: "I can't believe people have the nerve to enter someone else's property, while it's occupied, and create havoc.

"It's so disrespectful and horrible to think strangers have been rummaging through our belongings.

"They entered the garden and used the back door to get in. The mess was horrendous.

"I want the police to catch these people, but sadly I believe they'll only get a slap on the wrist."

Susan, aged 42, has lived at the property for seven years, but has been targeted by youths, who sometimes loiter and drink alcohol outside the house, for at least two years.

She said: "I have begged Spa Housing Association to move us, but they say we don't have enough points to qualify for a transfer."

Sue Heelas , the housing manager, for the Spa Housing Association, said: "We are unaware of this latest incident but are aware of the tenant's transfer request.

"While she does not have enough points for a transfer, she could register for our new choice based letting scheme which may prove of benefit to her."

A spokeswoman for the police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact PC Andy Simpkins on 01905 723888, quoting ref c/574003, or you can call the Crimestoppers line anonymously on 0800 555111.
