A DROITWICH stockbroker has miles to go before he completes the London Marathon.

Miles Robinson will be running the 26-mile challenge this weekend to raise at least £1,500 for Cancer Research UK.

Sunday's race will be Mr Robinson's first marathon, but he is a keen runner and once represented the UK in cross-country events.

He has been involving the local community in his fundraising by organising coffee mornings and having a sweepstake on his finishing time.

Twenty-five members of his family and friends will be cheering him on from the sidelines on the big day.

He will be one of 1,200 runners, the biggest charity team ever, raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Together, they hope to raise £800,000.

"It is great to have Miles on out marathon team," said Gordon McVie, joint director of Cancer Research UK.

"We rely on the support of dedicated supporters such as Miles.

"With their help, and the help of all their friends and family Cancer Research UK can work to cure cancer faster."
