ONLY one game was played in the Malvern Hills Inter Club Bowls League over the Christmas and New Year's recession.

Malvern Victoria entertained Ledbury and made a little progress toward recovering their position having won the competition last year.

They beat Ledbury by 81 shots to 65 but, from their point of view, succeeded on four of the five rinks to secure 12 of the 14 points available.

Derek Waters and his triple gained a welcome 17 shots to 11 against Derek Webb's triple but this was more than offset by John Clarke beating N Douse by 23-15.

Victoria were always holding the upper hand on the other three rinks but in losing overall by only 16 shots Ledbury will most surely be giving the other sides in the league some second thoughts despite holding the bottom spot at present.

These two teams meet again on Sunday, January 27 at 2.30pm and with Victoria also due to play Malvern Hills on January 26 at 2.30pm there could be a decisive change in the league positions after that weekend.

Anyone interested is welcome to come and watch the games at Manor Park Indoor Bowls Club, Albert Road North, Malvern.
