JAN Molby is bidding to fend off interest from other clubs and clinch the permanent signing of impressive loan man Bo Henriksen.

The 26-year-old striker, who won the Danish Super League with Herfolge, has scored five goals in 10 games for Harriers.

Henriksen has also caught the eye with his ability to open up defences for team-mates and Molby sees his fellow Dane as a player to build the team around.

Harriers are prepared to pay the small five-figure fee that Herfolge require but must agree personal terms with the player whose loan deal expires on February 8.

Molby said: "There is a fee involved but not a big fee and it's not going to put us off with the ambitions we have.

"We are right bang in the middle of a promotion push, maybe even automatic promotion.

"Apart from Bo's goals, his overall play, selection of passes and link-up play give us a clever front-man who creates chances.

"There are not a lot of players like him about, especially at this level, and we will fight hard to keep him. There is other interest and he's aware of that.

"But there's a certain attraction to playing for Kidderminster. He likes the way we play and he knows if he has two games where he doesn't play particularly well, we will not want to take him out of the team.

"That's because we want to build the team around him and he also knows we will always choose to play decent football."

Harriers remain in the play-off zone after Scunthorpe, who they travel to play on Saturday, slipped up 4-3 at home to Exeter on Tuesday.

Scunthorpe have not won this year but their previous last home defeat was in October to Luton.

They can boast dangerous wingers Peter Beagrie and Lee Hodges along with a potent attack of Steve Torpey and Martin Carruthers.

Young defender Jamie McCombe is set to be rested after a torrid time in the Exeter defeat.

Molby is waiting anxiously on the fitness of Colin Larkin, Richie Appleby (both hamstring) and Mark Blake (Achilles).

They all face a battle to return on Saturday but defenders Scott Stamps (back) and Abdou Sall (groin) should be available.

Molby added: "We've had three wins in the last four games away from home but that will be severely tested over the next few away games.

"Scunthorpe had an exceptional run at home, winning games well and beating Hull and Plymouth.

"The last thing we want is to be missing both Blake and Appleby in midfield again so hopefully one of them can make it."

Harriers are looking to pay up the contracts of both reserve keeper Brendan Murphy and the versatile Tony Bird whose deals finish at the end of the season.

Conference club Chester enquired after Bird but he turned down a loan or permanent move.

Harriers entertain relegation-threatened Halifax Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Injuries forced Harriers to postpone yesterday's scheduled reserve team game at home to Hull City.

They are due to visit Wrexham next Wednesday (2pm).
