A GROUP of Malvern town councillors have made a representation to Worcestershire County Council to complain about an imminent Council Tax increase of 7.9 per cent.
Nine councillors attended a budget consultation at County Hall on Monday to ask questions as to how the county council justified the hike.
Coun Alistair Macmillan (Trinity) said: "If (the increase) goes ahead, it will mean an increase of 44.7 per cent over the last five years.
"We expressed great concern about this, and the effect it will have on most people, who are not seeing anything like a 7.9 per cent increase in their salaries."
Malvern Town Council itself provoked a storm of protest when it approved a precept raise of more than 61 per cent this time last year.
