ANYONE who's ever fancied a taste of life in the American Wild West is being offered the chance to buy some land in Montana by a Malvern estate agent.

Whitt, Yeates and Ridley has taken on 20 acres of land just 20 miles from Little Bighorn, where General Custer famously had his last stand against the Sioux.

It comes with consent to develop two properties and is currently owned by Worcester couple Alan and Gail McDonald. Mr McDonald works for Tangent IT Systems in Malvern.

Ken Jones, of Whitt, Yeates and Ridley, said he was sure there would be little problem in attracting buyers.

"The land is just along from where Custer met his end and t's set in some of the most picturesque countryside in the Wild West.

"People who are looking for somewhere unusual and beautiful to live might want to buy it. If you like fishing, hiking and great open spaces, it's an ideal site.

"We've marketed houses in Spain and Florida before so you never can tell. Nothing is impossible."

Mr McDonald said family and work commitments had prevented him from making full use of it.

"Basically, I'd done 22 years in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers," he said.

"I was serving with the US Rangers out in Bosnia and I said to them that if there was ever any land to build on over in the States to let me know. I hadn't set foot in Montana."

He bought the land, which stands only ten miles from Billings, Montana's largest city and is near to Yellowstone National Park, in 1997 but did not move there as he was busy setting up Tangent, an IT training company.

The McDonalds are now selling the land as they have decided to stay in the region until their youngest child finishes school.

The tract of land is priced at £40,000 and Whitt, Yeates and Ridley can be contacted on 01684 573232 for further details.
