AN Old Street jeweller whose shop was raided says she is grateful for the sympathy shown by people in Upton.

Anne Manning, of David Manning Jewellers, said gifts and kind words received in the wake of the theft on January 8 had made it easier to cope.

"I'm most touched," she said. "I just want to say thank you to all of them."

The business celebrates 30 years in Upton next year and has suffered seven thefts in that time. Taken in the recent raid were gold rings, precious stones and a Victorian brooch worth a total of £3,500. West Mercia police are still appealing for witnesses.
