A SPECIAL meeting of the parish council was held in the village hall on Tuesday, January 8, regarding the resurfacing of the roadway leading to the Elgar Housing and other properties across Bushley Green. All those residents concerned were invited to this meeting for a discussion on the matter and the majority of those involved attended. On this subject there have been long-running discussions, as no authority was willing to take responsibility for the upkeep of this road. County councillor Tom Wells outlined a proposed scheme that Elgar Housing and the parish council would finance jointly the resurfacing and additional hard standing for the benefit of the residents in the area. The roadway to the properties behind the cricket pitch is not included in the scheme agreed.
The monthly whist drive was held on Wednesday, January 9. Winners were: P McCarthy, J Rusling, J Rose, M Palmer, G Warner, J Hartley, Mrs Abbott, Mr Hardey, P Timmes, N Bennett, G Quiney and B Jones. Don Warren was MC.
The next whist drive will be held in the village hall on Wednesday, February 6 at 8pm.
