DETECTIVES investigating the death of a Worcester pensioner were today due to quiz shoppers at the supermarket where she collapsed after her handbag was stolen.

Mary Tudge is believed to have suffered an angina attack in the pet food aisle of Tesco, St Peter's, during a search for the bag last Friday.

Paramedics took over from first-aid trained staff attempting to save the 77-year-old, who lived in St Peter's, but she died at Ronkswood Hospital.

A week on, police officers were returning to the store - between 11.30am and 12.30pm - to hand out leaflets and find witnesses.

The fresh appeal comes days after 25-year-old Rory Jones, of Liverpool Road, Ronkswood, was charged with her manslaughter.

He is due to re-appear at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday, January 22.

Mrs Tudge's daughter-in-law, Valerie Matthews, said the family was still very upset by the tragedy.

"We'd like thank the staff at Tescos for all the help they gave her."

Mrs Tudge's inquest was opened and adjourned on Wednesday.
