SIX months after joining Worcester Athletic Club, Daniel Keen has already notched up a quartet of cross country triumphs.

The 13-year-old pupil of Simon de Montfort School has monopolised this season's Gloucester League event - winning the opening three races to guarantee the gold medal. And, just for good measure, he picked up silver in the team event.

The youngster's first event in club colours saw him win races at 800m and 200m - success that prompted Nunnery Wood officials to invite him to join.

Last October, Daniel raced in the Midland Road Relays at Sutton Coldfield where he clocked nine minutes and nine seconds for the 2.33K distance.

Three weeks later he clipped an amazing 41 seconds off that time when finishing ninth in the National Road Relay Championships - a catalyst for future success.

A trio of wins in the Gloucester League - he will be seeking a clean sweep on February 15 - came either side of a District title triumph at Bredon Hill School.

Daniel started the new year in the same vein with a fourth win in the Under-13 age group at the Halesowen Champion-ships when he covered the 2,700m distance in ten minutes and ten seconds.

The Midlands Inter-Counties Championships at Wollaton Park in Nottingham on Febr-uary 9 is Daniel's next major aim but he will be hoping to maintain his winning ways at this week's South Worcester-shire Championships and in the Midlands Championships at Leamington Spa on Satur-day, January 26.
