FIVE dropped shots in the space of six holes cost Jeremy Robinson a top ten finish at last weekend's Bell's South African Open.
The Evesham golfer produced some fine play to move six-under for the event after ten holes at Saturday's third round in Durban. However, bogey fives at 17 and 18 spoiled a good round but still left the 35-year-old outside the top 30.
Robinson carded opening rounds of 71 and 70 - a second round requiring just 27 putts - before a trio of birdies left him well placed to mount a real challenge.
The tale of woe worsened on Sunday with a double bogey seven at the third and, when he took four shots at the par three fourth, Robinson was back to one-under.
A birdie four at the eighth was the catalyst for a late rally. Birdies at three of the last five holes lifted Robinson back into the top 30 but he will look back on some consistent scoring with a certain degree of dissatisfaction at his final placing.
The Evesham ace tees off at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in Johannesburg today when former Chelsea and Coventry footballer, Roy Wegerle, is also in a strong field.
