A PROMINENT pensioners' campaigner who fought for the rights of Wyre Forest's elderly has died.

Pat Moorfield-Webb, who proved you were never too old to fight for your rights, passed away after a long battle against cancer aged 80.

A funeral will be held tomorrow at Holy Innocents Church, Kidderminster, at noon.

Pat was the forthright chairman of Wyre Forest Pensioners Convention until it folded two years ago.

She was wheelchair-bound with multiple osteoarthritis and spondilitis but never let her disability prevent her from spreading the message of pensioners' rights.

She lobbied hard against old folk having to pay TV licences and lived to see Government concessions for the over-75s.

Pat, who did not use her first name Ivy, also lobbied against rises in everything from concessionary bus fares to luncheon club meals.

However, she bemoaned passive pensioners as the district group dwindled from a 100-strong membership a decade ago to searching for new members and premises.

But she maintained her belief in grey power even after having to fold the group in 2000.
