RISING star Jimmy Chamberlain is celebrating more success after winning a part in a top production at the London Palladium following six weeks of tough auditions.

The 12-year-old, of Holmcroft Road, Kidderminster, will be appearing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in the West End this summer. Jimmy Chamberlain, who has won a part in the new West End production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

It is the latest in a long line of accomplishments for Jimmy, who has appeared as Gavroche in a West End production of Les Miserables and earlier this year secured a scholarship to the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School in London.

News of his latest success comes after one of the original stars of the 1968 film, comedian Stanley Unwin, died on Saturday aged 90.

Jimmy appears as different characters of the new production, which stars Brian Blessed and Richard O'Brien as the child-catcher.

He is also understudy to one of the main roles - the character of Jeremy, the son of Caractacus Potts - who is being played by Michael Ball.

It is the first time the story has been done as a stage musical.

Jimmy's mother Alison said: "He was thrilled to get in. He has to learn to fly on a wire for the part."
