A NEW sports complex available for both Kidderminster Harriers and the community could be built in the town following the thumbs-up from district planners.
The plans, identical to those given approval in 1997 but which did not materialise due to the club's financial constraints, involve the demolition of the existing dilapidated wooden community hall at Aggborough
Up to 14 sports could be accommodated in the new building which although principally for club use could be open to the public seven days a week.
Kidderminster Harriers chairman Lionel Newton welcomed the decision. "This complex is an important part of our medium and long-term vision for the club.
"The Glades are very good to us but it's not the same as having our own facilities, which would having us compete on a level playing field with our rivals."
But Mr Newton stressed the development could only go ahead if funding from Sport England or elsewhere was forthcoming.
