WORCESTER Norton Under 19 women's squad retained their Worc-estershire Clubs Championship Trophy with three convincing wins at Stourport and now qualify as the county's representatives in the Midland Counties Under 19 Clubs' Finals at Northampton on March 10.

In their three games they scored 26 goals with one against.

Leading scorer with nine goals was England Under 16 international Kate Draper and close behind came Midlands Under 14 representative Lora Symonds with seven.

Two first team squad players Tina Evans and Jenny Rogers recorded four goals each with one apiece for Charlene Mason and Jennifer Wilks.

In their first game Worcester Norton disposed of Droitwich 19-0, a record score for this competition.

Stourport and Pickwick Old Sils proved tougher opposition but were overcome 5-1 and 2-0 respectively.

The start of Worcester fourth team fixture programme to accommodate the increasing numbers of new young players began on a successful note with a 5-0 win over Blossomfield thirds.

Encouraging debuts were made by two 12-year-olds Terri Lane and Nicky Wilkinson, the latter scoring her first senior goal for the club.

The opening goal in the seventh minute was neatly tucked away by Ker-ry McGrath to be followed by a brace by Dawn Brooks just after half time.

Worcester emphasised their superiority just before the end when 13-year- old Beth Ghalamkari scored on her first senior appearance. Kate Herriot and Rebecca Hardie showed excellent composure in defence at this level.

Worcester Norton third team got 2002 off to a flying start with a 6-1 defeat of Leamington seconds.

Sisters Libby and Clare Hayes were the stars of the show with all six goals between them in a ratio of 4 to 2.

Worcester should have scored more if the quality of finishing had matched the midfield passing but 12-year-old Charlotte Roberts earned considerable praise for her accomplished play.

After two false starts the first team hope to get their show on the road in 2002 with their only warm-up game on Saturday (Nunnery Wood 3pm) against Matlock before the league programme starts. On Sunday they made the long trip to Colchester for their third round tie in the EHA Trophy.

Squad for weekend games: Fiona Nash, Sadle Lapper, Becky Handy, Amanda Smith, Tina Evans, Elaine Shepperd, Sophie Wood, Kate Draper, Charlene Mason, Becky Adams, Jo Walker, Kate Fletcher, Pam Gilmore.

Following their encouraging win last week Worcester Norton seconds want to continue their good form against Blossomfield first team (Nunnery Wood 12 noon) but will have to do without experienced striker Jo Tufton and Midlands Under 17 goalkeeper Sarah Fellows, who suffered a shoulder injury at a recent England Under 18 training camp and will be out for a couple of weeks. The third team are away to Blossomfield seconds for their final preparation game.
