THE North Midlands Cup and Shield competitions have again been affected by rearranged league matches.

The twice-postponed first round tie between Camp Hill and Kidderminster Carolians, which was due to be played on the weekend of January 19 or 20, has again been put back because Camp Hill now have to play a postponed Midlands One match against Dunstablians.

The quarter-finals between holders Bromsgrove and Telford and Malvern and Luctonians have also been further delayed because of league commitments.

In the North Midlands Shield the second round ties between Worcester Wanderers and Upton on Severn has been delayed again because Upton have a rearranged league game, as has the quarter-final tie between Ledbury and Veseyans, which has now been put back until February 9.

But two Shield matches will go ahead as planned on Saturday January 19 with Ludlow entertaining Edwardians in the quarter-finals and Old Saltleians hosting Clee Hill in a delayed second round tie.

Meanwhile, North Midlands are holding a workshop into the A-Z of Community Rugby at Bromyard RFC on Wednesday January 23 (7pm).

North Midlands are running a series of workshops around the county to discuss the Blackman Report, a detailed investigation into club rugby conducted by RFU Council member Eric Blackman, and the Bromyard meeting will cover a range of issues affecting clubs within the county.

Matters such as club finance and development, communication, player recruitment and RFU funding.

The Bromyard workshop follows a successful meeting at Old Griffinians in November which was well attended and produced a lively and constructive debate.

The Bromyard workshop is open to all North Midlands clubs and further details are available from Stuart Potts, the county secretary, on 01952 275633.
