Pershore Town 7,

WM Police Res 0

AS EXPECTED, in form Town took the Police to task as they made comfortable progress in Saturday's Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup clash.

Richard Congrave was Pershore's goal hero in the seven-goal drubbing, the striker finding the net four times and being denied several more by some fine stops from the visitors' goalkeeper.

Lee Tustin scored the first of five first half goals after 17 minutes and four minutes later fellow forward Congrave doubled the home side's lead.

Recent recruit Steven Spencer's centre was then powerfully headed narrowly wide by Jon Gregory but it was 4-0 eight minutes before the break after Congrave's double strike completed his hat-trick.

Central defender Colin Fulloway rose highest to nod in Simon Brain's flag-kick as the interval approached but, as Town eased off after the break, Police had a rare chance but Neil Turner saved from Ben Smith.

Moore's efforts in the visiting side's goal kept the score to five until Congrave struck his fourth after 73 minutes and substitute Richard Pincher ran the ball into an empty net a minute later to complete the rout.

It will be far tougher on Saturday when Town return to Midland Combination action against league leaders Grosvenor Park (2.45).
