I WAS very disappointed to experience a total lack of support when in need recently.

We arrived home to find a stray dog on our doorstep and because it was found after 5pm I was told by the RSPCA, the dog warden and police that it was our problem.

The dog was very emaciated, smelly and we were nervous to go near it, but it couldn't stay on the doorstep because it was cold, and I was expecting visitors.

It was difficult to catch in the dark and because it was frightened my husband risked being bitten.

I certainly could not have dealt with this situation if I had been on my own with young children.

We eventually got the dog into a box in the car and admittedly, could have taken it to the police station, but with Stourport frequently closed we decided on Forest Dog Rescue.

Thank goodness for the lady who runs that centre.

She doesn't finish at 5pm and is a real guardian angel for the stray and abandoned dogs within the area.

Surely there should be someone on standby who is paid to deal with these situations after 5pm, especially at this time of year.
