Littleton 6, Badsey Utd 1

LITTLETON moved into the final of the Evesham Hospital Junior Cup with a 6-1 victory over their near neighbours and old friends.

The margin of the victory was harsh on Badsey who at times held the upper hand.

Littleton made the best possible start being 2-0 up inside ten minutes.

They took the lead on five minutes when a long clearance from Matt Cotton found Des Cox wide on the right. His pace took him clear of the defence and his centre was nodded in from close-range by Billy Hiden.

Then Bobby Deacon converted a penalty given for a challenge on the edge of the box.

However, Badsey rolled up their sleeves and started to play their way back into the game, and almost pulled one back when a Martin Schembri cross shot went just past the post.

On the stroke of half-time, the Midland Combination hosts increased their lead with the best goal of the game. From a corner, the ball was half cleared to Chris Bate some 25 yards out and his first-time half- volley flew unerringly into the top of the net.

For the first 20 minutes of the second half Badsey held sway and reduced the arrears when Andrew Rogers hammered the ball in from close-range.

They continued to press but a goal in the 72nd minute effectively put the game out of th Stratford Alliance side's reach as Ady Wilde scored following a Matthew Edwards free-kick.

Further goals from Cox and Deacon completed the scoring in a game sponsored by Willersey Provisions.
