MEMBERS of Stourport Town Council have slammed on-going disruption in York Street claiming it poses a "danger to the community".
Wyre Forest Highways Partnership has launched legal action against the developer of a new block of flats on the street, Key Developments, to try and force the company to repair an unstable wall which is preventing pavement repair work beginning.
Mayor Michael Grinnall dubbed the situation "an absolute disgrace" as barriers remained sealing off the busy town centre pavement.
"It's about time something was done," said Mr Grinnall. "No-one is prepared to do anything about it until it's established whose responsibility it is but the Highways Partnership should be doing the job anyway and then determine responsibility later."
Partnership manager Stuart Reynolds said: "We will repair the footway at the developer's expense after the developer has stabilised the wall. The onus is clearly on the developer since his actions resulted in the wall moving."
He added: "We do not have the power to carry out repairs to private property."
No-one from Key Developments was available for comment.
