HOCKEY: The experienced David Knott was Stourport indoor side's leading scorer in the first round of national league matches at the Glades, Kidderminster.

Knott scored seven, including four in one match, while Phil Lashford notched six and Shilen Tanna one in each of the four matches.

Stourport are fourth in the league table on goal difference behind Canterbury.

The leaders are Loughborough Students followed by Old Loughtonians.

But Stourport made a bad start on Saturday as they were thrashed 10-2 by Loughborough Students.

The students scored their first goal after just two minutes and added three more in the next six minutes.

Knott replied for Stourport but Stourport's only other score from Tanna came early in the second half.

Nottingham 4 Stourport 3rds 3

The thirds paid the penalty for taking an under-strength side to Nottingham and for missing far too many chances.

Nottingham went 4-2 up though Marcus Hyde Finn scored the final goal of the match.

Stourport 4ths 5 Worcester 1

Youngsters Rosie, Terry and Pochribniak all did well as Stourport proved too strong for their visitors.

Within five minutes, the hosts were level but captain Fran Long instantly put her side ahead again from a short-corner.

Again the home side equalised with a good individual goal in-off the post five minutes from the break.

In the second half, despite much pressure, Stourport held firm until the final 15 minutes when Bloxwich scored twice.
