FIREFIGHTERS were called out to the River Severn in Bewdley in a special boat to fish for an unusual catch - a Ford Orion.
The crew from Worcester was launched at 9.20am on Monday morning after being told the car was in the river opposite the Woodman pub, Ribbesford Road, by police. Firefighters search for the submerged car.
Fortunately they found there was nobody in the car, which they suspect had been stolen and dumped.
"It's not the first time this has happened," said a spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire Brigade.
He added the crew found the car and managed to pull it to the riverbank in a half-hour operation. the Ford Orion is dragged from the River Severn at Bewdley.
Firefighters from Stourport and Kidderminster attended to support the boat crew and helped retrieve the car, while the Environment Agency were also on the scene.
Four or five litres of fuel are thought to have leaked into the river.
