BROMSGROVE Rovers came down to earth with a bump last night as they were held 2-2 by lowly Stafford Town at the Victoria Ground.

The Greens were a shadow of the side that crushed Shifnal Town 7-0 despite fielding the same 11 in a game marred by seven bookings.

Rovers fell behind on 14 minutes when Phillip Skelton held off the home defence to loop the ball over Matt Lowe.

To their credit, Bromsgrove scrapped and managed to create two chances for Les Palmer while Marvin Blake saw a shot headed off the line.

Continued Rovers possession eventually rewarded them with an equaliser after 34 minutes when Palmer got on the end of a good Paul Lloyd cross following a move down the right.

Bookings for Matt Coppin and Lloyd then ensued within two minutes of each other before the break.

Two minutes after the restart Palmer got his brace, putting Rovers 2-1 up with a smashing a from 20 yards.

With the bit between their teeth, Rovers went looking to finish the game off but Stafford continued to frustrate the Greens in midfield.

Stafford's equaliser came with just five minutes left when an Ashley Sheridan cross from the left found substitute Carl Wallace for a free header.

And it looked as though the visitors had snatched all three points in the final minute when Sheridanagain forced his way down the flank to cross but substitute Ian Brown's header was ruled offside.

Rovers had been let off the hook and could have sealed it themselves in the third minute of injury time but Bowen blazed over from 10 yards to the dismay of the home faithful.
